Red Velvet Brownies

Red Velvet Brownies #vegan #glutenfree #pamelawasabi_05Red Velvet Brownies, but I like calling them Pink Blondies better. I went to the kitchen with the idea of making something hot pink. This was the result. Chickpea brownies spiced up with some hot pink awesomeness, of course, from beets.

A couple things to have in mind when baking them. If you bake them too long the hot pink will not be as bright. The bright color is provided by the antioxidants from the beets. You will literally bake the antioxidants off if you leave the brownies too long in the oven.
When the time’s up, the red velvet brownies will still be runny. But don’t worry, they will become harder and cake-like as soon as they cool down. So for this recipe, it’s important to follow the instructions for oven time.

And one more thing, I decorated the brownies with raw oats on top. If you [and your friends] are going to eat the brownies on the same day you can sprinkle them with the oats as garnish, if you are planning to save them for later, do not add anything else on top. The oats will go bad faster than the brownies.

Un para de cosas para tener en cuenta cuando vallan a preparar estos brownies. Si los dejan en el horno por mucho tiempo, el color rosado fuerte se desaparecerá. El color rosado lo logre usando remolacha. La remolacha tiene ese color rosado y divino gracias a su alto contenido de antioxidantes. Al calentar la remolacha estamos calentando los antioxidantes y entre mas los cocinemos, chao colores fuertes. 
A los 30 minutos después de haber calentando los brownies ellos todavia estarán “crudos” pero no se preocupen que al enfriarse tomaran la textura de brownie, y estarán listos para devorárselos!

Red Velvet Brownies

Ingredients
– 1.5 C of Raw Shredded Beets
– 1 Can of Garbanzos (Rinsed and Drained)
– 1 C of Rolled Oats
– 1/4 C of Coconut Oil
– 1/2 C of Agave
– 2 Tbsp of Arrowroot
– 1 Tbsp of Vanilla
– 1 Tsp of Sea Salt
– 1 Tsp of Baking Powder
– 1/3 C of Chocolate Chips

Directions
– Preheat oven to 350′ F
– Shred beets, we are using raw beets. No need to bake them before using them for this recipe.
– Add shredded beets, garbanzos and oats to food processor. Pulse a couple of times.
– Add the rest on ingredients to food processor except for chocolate chips.
– Transfer to a bowl and fold in chocolate chips. Mix with a spatula or wooden spoon.
– Transfer batter to a square or rectangular mold. Sprinkle with extra chocolate chips if desired.
– Bake for 30 minutes.
– Let them cool down before cutting them. Enjoy!

Brownies de Terciopelo Rojo

Ingredients
– 1.5 C of Remolacha Rallada y Cruda
– 1 Lata de Garbanzos (Descarta el agua de la lata y lavalos bien)
– 1 C de Hojuelas de Avena
– 1/4 C Aceite de Coco
– 1/2 C de Agave
– 2 Cdas de Arrurruz
– 1 Cda de Esencia Vainilla
– 1 Cdta de Sal Marina
– 1 Cdta de Polvo de Hornera
– 1/3 C de Chispas de Chocolate

Instrucciones
– Precalienta el horno a 350′ F
– Ralla la remolacha cruda.
– Usando un procesador de comidas o ayudante de cocida echa la remolacha, los garbanzos y la avena. Pulsa un par de veces.
– Agrega el resto de ingredientes excepto por la chispas de chocolate. Sigue mezclando, puedes dejar pedacitos de hojuelas visibles.
– Transfiere la mezcla en un recipiente hondo y agrégale las chispas de chocolate. Mezcla.
– Transfere la mezcla en un molde de hornear cuadrado o rectangular.
– Hornea por 30 minutos.
– Deja los brownies enfriar antes de partirlos. Que disfrutes!
